Sustainable Brands is holding its 2nd annual conference on The New Metrics of Sustainable Business at Wharton School of Business on September 27 to 28, 2012.

The 2 day program will reveal  the environmental and social impacts of business activity; examines innovative ways business can create, quantify, manage and communicate value through sustainability; and find new ways to turn shared value activities into enhanced financial performance. Various initiatives, research and models will be presented with time devoted to interactive discussion, facilitated by some of sustainability’s top strategists.

GreenFest Philly 2012 is Back!

September; the leaves are turning, students are returning to their dorms, and Greenfest Philly is coming back to Center City!

With over 100 exhibitors and vendors, Greenfest is the largest eco-festival in the Philadelphia metro area. Come out to see local green wares and live demonstrations, hear live music and eat great local food while learning how to incorporate sustainability in your work or home life.   The event is free and will be held at historic Headhouse Row at 2nd and Lombard Streets on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 11am to 5pm.

Make Your Voice Heard! Say NO to Soot!

Next Tuesday, July 17th , 2012, the E.P.A. will hold a hearing to collect public comments on a proposed rule to limit fine particulate matter (PM) commonly known as Soot. The hearing will be held at the William J. Green Federal Building at 600 Arch Street Philadelphia, PA 19106, from 9:00am to 9:00pm.

Fine particulate pollution is dangerous because it travels deep into the lungs and can enter the bloodstream; exposure to it is linked to a range of respiratory and cardiovascular problems such as asthma and bronchitis.

Society of Women Environmental Professionals Annual Speed Networking Event

The Society of Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP) will be holding their  Annual Speed Networking Even on Thursday June 14, 2012 at the Manayunk Brewing Company.It’s an evening of great networking opportunities and will include the first drink of your choice (beer, wine, or well mixed drink), a tour of the brewery, hors d'œuvres, unlimited soft drinks/coffee/tea, door prizes and opportunity to socialize in a relaxed and fun atmosphere while you participate in speed networking.  Don't forget a stack of your business cards to hand out to new colleagues, potential connections, and door prize raffle! 
The event will be held from 5:30 – 8:30 pm and the cost for members is $25 ($20 preregistered) and non-members is $35 ($30) Non-Members joining SWEP (Philadelphia, NJ, or Joint Membership) will be admitted FREE (must bring membership fee to the event). Cash or check accepted.

Green Mountain Energy Company Hiring!

Zac Lowder, Pennsylvania Market Manager for Green Mountain Energy Company, alerted us that his company is looking to fill 10-15 part-time positions in the area between now and early June.
