PRICEWATERHOUSE SAYS WE'RE SCREWED

We just read a very disturbing report at Mother Jones that we're taking the time to repost here at GD DV.

According to a new study entitled "Low Carbon Economy Index," released by the accounting super-giant PricewaterhouseCoopers, our ability as a species to control runaway greenhouse gas emissions is lessening every year. The report indicates the following grim findings:

  • The world's major economies are increasingly failing to do what's needed to to limit global warming to 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit above pre-industrial levels
  • This failure impacts global food security threats, extreme weather events, coastal inundation, widespread species extinction and ecosystem shifts
  • tThe global economy needs to "decarbonize" by 6.2 percent every year until the end of the century to limit warming to 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit

Afraid? We should be. Download the entire report in PDF format HERE
