SAY NO TO ROLLING BACK MERCURY LIMITS IN PA!

Only days into a new Congressional Session, Pennsylvania Senators Casey and Toomey are lobbying to remove critical mercury limits on some of the dirtiest power plants in PA. They've proposed that some of the dirtiest coal-waste power plants should no longer be required to meet critical health-based mercury pollution limits.

These limits were designed to protect our health: 1 in 10 women have enough mercury in their blood to put a child at risk of serious developmental damage. And it doesn't take much pollution. Studies suggest that even a gram-sized drop of mercury can contaminate an entire 20 acre lake.

Tell them to stop trying to weaken protections from this dangerous toxin. Click the link below  to send our senators a clear message: don't sacrifice our health and the health of our kids for the dirty power companies.

PHILLY FIXERS GUILD REPAIR FAIR!

Ben Davis and Holly Logan, founders of Philly Fixers Guild, are hosting their first Repair
Fair of 2015 and you're invited!

The Philly Fixers Guild holds Repair Fair events every 2 to 3 months at various locations around Philadelphia. Members of the community are welcome to bring in any item that’s broken or damaged. This includes almost anything; even clothing and jewelry.

A volunteer Fixer will guide you in how to repair or mend your item; you'll learn how to troubleshoot and make repairs in the process. The primary objective of the Guild is to shift our conventional wisdom that broken items should necessarily be thrown out and replaced. Repair Fairs serve as a means to inform and educate people in troubleshooting and repair, enabling folks to repair and mend things without assistance, generate less garbage and save resources and money. That's a win-win, so come on out!

DATE: Saturday, January 31st, 12:00-4:00pm
LOCATION: Memphis Street Academy (Port Richmond), 2950 Memphis St., Philadelphia, PA 19134
