PROTEST THE SOUTHPORT FRACKING HUB

Philly is at the epicenter of the transition to clean energy and it's time to take a stand. Crude oil from the Bakken fields in North Dakota, fracked gas from the Marcellus,  is headed our way if the oil and gas industry gets their way.

The PRPA (Philadelphia Regional Port Authority) has organized a public outreach event to explain the 6 proposals for the Southport site in southeast Philadelphia. One of the 6 proposals is by PES (Philadelphia Energy Solutions), who want to expand their current operations in southwest Pennsylvania with a proposed energy hub for Philadelphia.

We need to show the PRPA and our Mayor that expansion is not an option for PES (or any other) fossil fuel infrastructure that has been in violation of emissions control requirements for more than 3 continuous years, and that already today singlehandedly contributes more than 70% of all of Philadelphia's deadly mercury, lead, NOx and SO2 pollution.

Fossil fuels are bad for our health. We know they're bad for the climate. We need to stand up together, pack the Sheet Metal Worker's Hall and say No New Fossil Fuel Infrastructure.

DATE: Wednesday, March 9th, 6:00 to 8:00pm, group will meet outside at 5:30pm
LOCATION: Sheet Metal Workers Hall, 1301 S Christopher Columbus Blvd, by Pier 70, Philadelphia, PA 19147

DVS CITIZENS’ CLIMATE LOBBY 2016 MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL CONFERENCE

Preventing the most catastrophic global impacts of climate change will require strong action by the US Congress.  The Citizens’ Climate Lobby 2016 Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference is training ordinary citizens to initiate a transformation of the global economy to one that allows for a safe and healthy future. CCL’s goal is to generate the political will necessary for passage of our Carbon Fee and Dividend proposal, and to empower individual volunteers to engage elected officials, the media and the public.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a fast-growing national grassroots organization that is building bipartisan support in Congress to address the world-wide disruption inflicted by climate change. With an increasingly influential voice, CCL advocates for reducing greenhouse gas pollution through a revenue neutral pollution fee imposed on carbon energy sources, with all the money returned to American households.

Join the hundreds across the country and the world who are working to control climate change.
