URGENT! TRUMP JUST APPROVED THE KEYSTONE XL AND DAKOTA ACCESS PIPELINES

Donald Trump is already proving to be the dangerous threat to our climate we feared he
would be. But, these pipelines are far from being a certainty. From the plains of Nebraska and North Dakota to the streets of New York to the halls of Congress, millions of Americans and hundreds of Tribes have stood up to block these dirty pipelines, and their voices will not be silenced. We will continue to fight these dangerous projects.

The Keystone XL pipeline was rejected because it was not in the country's interest, and the environmental review of the Dakota Access Pipeline was ordered because of the threats it poses to the Standing Rock Sioux. Nothing has changed. These pipelines were a bad idea then, and they're a bad idea now.

Take action: Show Trump that we will not back down, we will stand with our allies and fight him every step of the way. Send a message directly to the White House.

THIS IS WHY YOUR STEAK TASTES LIKE PROCESSED SUGAR

If a diet of Skittles are really bad for your children, wouldn't they be just as bad for the cows we eat?

Apparently, the US beef industry disagrees.

On Tuesday, January 17, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin posted on Facebook that they found hundreds of thousands of red Skittles covering a county highway. Mars, the candy’s parent company, confirmed that the Skittles were not going to be packaged and sold because they were missing the classic letter ‘S’ marking each piece of candy. Instead, the sheriff’s office said the candy was going to be added to feed for cattle, a practice that Eater says has been going on for decades.

MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY OF SERVICE AT FRIENDS OF THE WISSAHICKON

Thomas Mansion in Germantown is a historic property built in 1869 by George Clifford Thomas and
his wife Caroline Sheetz. The property, which once boasted beautifully landscaped gardens and a green house, needs lots of regular maintenance to keep from becoming overgrown. For each of the last two MLK days, FRIENDS OF THE WISSAHICKON worked on the mansion grounds by clearing the overgrown invasive plants along the driveway, a project we will continue on this year

Dr. King once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: what are you doing for others?” By volunteering at Thomas Mansion, you'll  will be giving back to our park, its users, and the plants and animals that rely on it to live. Please email Volunteer Coordinator Christina Anthony at anthony@fow.org to register or for more information.

DATE: Monday, January 16th, from 9 am-1 pm
LOCATION: Thomas Mansion, 6245 Wissahickon Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19144
